Product Description
Brazil, a lush country full of rain forests, natural resources and intelligent people has always held a bit of mystery and wonder. This collection of five films from the 1940s explores all aspects of Brazilian life and their place in the world - wich beautiful scenery and glimpses of the lives of the people and the effects of government decisions during WWII. All films are in English and the collection has a total run time of 1 hour 5 minutes. Here are the five films in this collection: Belo Horizonte (1949) - An exploration of the planned city Belo Horizonte - showcasing its industry, progressive social programs for its citizens, etnertainment and every day life in this fabulous city.; Brazil Gets the News (1942) - An exploration of the Sao Paulo newspaper, Agazeta highlighting that it is as "modern" and "free" as any other world newspaper. It is an interesting film as at the time, there was still censorship in Brazilian news reporting.; Brazil: South American Medley (1948) - A wonderful travelogue of Brazil, highlighting its people, industry, customs and various climates throughout the country.; Brazil at War (1943) - A film praising Brazil for its decision to join the Allies in the fight against Hitler and Germany at the height of WWII.; Good Neighbor Family (1943) - This film compares and contrasts typical Brazilian families with their typical counterparts in the United States. It includes comparisons of rich, middle class and poor people in both countries.
